Apollo encourages local labour and supply chain in South Wales

The Apollo Group held a construction supply chain event in Newport in mid September, in order to recruit local labour and suppliers in South Wales.

The national integrated property services company, which opened an office in Caerleon nine months ago, is committed to helping support local businesses and employment in the region and was encouraged by the overwhelming response that the event received.

Suppliers and contractors were invited to drop in and meet representatives of Apollo to find out more about the company, to explore opportunities for working together, and, where appropriate, to sign up to the approved contractors’ list.

The event had the backing of national suppliers, such as Robert Price and Wolseley, and was one of a series of similar events being run across the country, following the popularity of a trial event held in the Midlands earlier this year.

Daren Moseley, Apollo’s Regional Director, said: ‘As our business continues to develop and grow in Wales, it is essential that we tap into the local labour and skills pool, as well as sourcing local suppliers. This not only bolsters our ability to operate effectively, but, importantly, also allows us to help reinforce the strength of the local pound in the region’.
