Jayne Bryant continues as housing secretary

Jayne Bryant will continue as housing secretary in the ministerial team announced by new first minister Eluned Morgan on Wednesday.

Most of the cabinet appointments made today are the same as the interim ones announced by outgoing first minister Vaughan GethingĀ  as he stood down in July. The four ministers whose resignations led to the end of his premiership, including former housing secretary Julie James, have not been reappointed.

Jayne Bryant will be cabinet secretary for housing, local government and planning in the new team. The MS for Newport West was previously minister for mental health and early years and before that sat onĀ  the Senedd Local Government and Housing Committee.

Eluned Morgan was previously cabinet secretary for health and social care. Former first minister Mark Drakeford has agreed to take that post on an interim basis.

  • Minister for Social Care: Dawn Bowden MS
  • Minister for Social Partnership: Jack Sargeant MS
  • Minister for Mental Health and Early Years: Sarah Murphy MS
