Making business sense – good practice in social enterprises in Wales
Social enterprises are high on everyone’s agenda at the moment and that is because they are being regarded as everything from the saviour of the economy, to the next level of financial inclusion and as a means of increasing empowerment within communities and social landlords in Wales.
This report has researched existing landlord based social enterprises in Wales, and the support services that are built around them; as a result it is everything you need to begin the process of creating a community based social enterprise.
It draws out elements of best practice from existing social enterprises, aiming to sign post tenants and landlords who are considering social enterprises to organisations and partners who may be able to help them with the process.
Joseph Champion, from TPAS Cymru, said ‘The report finds that there seems to be room in the Welsh market for social enterprises. This stems from Wales’ rich history of mutual co-operation, pro-active government and third sector support for the social enterprise model.’
Drawing on case studies, the report highlights how multiple regenerative benefits can be gained from establishing a social enterprise in communities across Wales and the added value for social landlords using social enterprises during their procurement process.
