Performance Improvement Club

February saw HouseMark deliver one of its regular Performance Improvement Club meetings in Llandrindod Wells. The meeting theme of ‘managing voids’ proved to be a popular subject with over 40 delegates from across all of Wales booked onto the event, making it one of the most popular Performance Improvement Club meetings in Wales for some time. Delegates at the meeting heard from a range of speakers, all designed to help landlords improve the way in which they deliver their void property services.

Vicky Johnson, HouseMark’s Director of Benchmarking outlined the benefits of using HouseMark’s benchmarking service to help analyse and understand the performance of a landlord’s void management service. She also demonstrated how HouseMark’s Knowledge Base can be used to improve a voids management service by the sharing of good practice examples. Vicky was followed by Rick Awdas who is the Regional Manager for Procurement For Housing (PfH). Rick shared with the club the efficiencies, benefits and types of services that can be obtained, as members of PfH, that could be used both during the void process to help reduce costs and improve efficiency, and after a property has been let to help the ingoing tenant settle into their new home.

After lunch, delegates heard from Graham Holmes of Pembrokeshire Housing Association and Aiden Akerman from Mid Wales Housing Association. Both Graham and Aiden shared their experiences of dealing with void properties in their respective organisations and outlined the process they follow to ensure that relet times and income losses are kept as low as they can be.

Martin Asquith, HouseMark Manager for Wales said ‘the club seemed to go really well. We had over 40 people booked onto the meeting with some really positive feedback coming from delegates on the day. Those HouseMark members who weren’t able to make it to the club meeting itself can get copies of the presentation from the clubs page on the HouseMark website.’
